Chemical peel options for pigment correction: treatments & what to expect
By C.Skin.Care Aesthetics | October 1, 2026
I hear this a lot: people come in because they “have such a great experience here every time” and love results that “last a long time, ” and then they’re ready to tackle brown spots and uneven tone next. Chemical Peels & Pigment Correction covers a range of treatments, from light glycolic and salicylic peels to medium TCA peels and targeted topical pigment therapies, used to reduce dark spots, melasma, and sun damage. Here in Fort Lauderdale, especially in Harbordale near the 17th Street Causeway and Harbor Shops area, year-round UV exposure makes pigment a very real, very common concern. In this guide, I’ll show you the peel categories, my pigment-focused options, realistic downtime, and how I help you choose the right plan for your skin tone and schedule.

Quick reality check: pigment usually improves in stages, not overnight. We’ll choose the option that gives you the best change without putting your barrier or your calendar through it.
Pigment concerns in Fort Lauderdale: what’s actually happening in your skin
If you’re searching “face peel for pigmentation” or “hyperpigmentation peel, ” you’re usually dealing with one of these patterns: sun spots that keep getting darker, post-acne marks that linger, or melasma that flares after sun and heat. Fort Lauderdale’s beach days, boating, and humidity can keep inflammation simmering, and pigment loves inflammation.
Peels help because they speed up cell turnover and, depending on the formula, also calm acne, brighten uneven patches, and support a healthier-looking surface. But pigment correction is not just about exfoliating harder. The right plan balances three things: the type of pigment, your skin tone (and how reactive your pigment can be), and your downtime tolerance.
Superficial vs. medium TCA peels: the difference shows up in downtime
Most pigment correction starts with superficial peels. Think glycolic and salicylic blends, plus brighteners like tranexamic acid, kojic acid, or resorcinols. These are my go-to when you want glow, clearer pores, and gradual fading without disappearing for a week.
Medium-depth peels (often TCA-based) can make a bigger dent in stubborn discoloration, texture, and sun damage. They also demand more respect: stronger aftercare, tighter sun avoidance, and a realistic plan for peeling days. I don’t rush people into medium peels. I’d rather prep your skin properly and get a smoother, safer result than risk rebound pigment.
Skin-tone safety matters: for deeper skin tones (Fitzpatrick IV to VI), I’m conservative with layering, watch heat and irritation closely, and keep the focus on steady improvement, not aggressive peeling.
My Chemical Peels & Pigment Correction menu: pick the right starting point
Below are the peel options I use most for pigmentation, plus a few that are perfect “first peels.” If you’re not sure, that’s normal. I’ll guide you based on your current routine, sun exposure, and how reactive your pigment tends to be.
Clear Peel
This is a true “start here” peel when acne, congestion, and inflammation are driving post-breakout marks. I like it because it’s superficial and beginner-friendly, and the green tea plus salicylic combo helps calm redness while we clear out the pores.
Best for: first-time peel clients, acne-prone skin, and post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation that follows breakouts.
Oxygen Regenerating Peel
Dull, tired-looking skin tends to love this. It’s a gorgeous option when you want brightness and that “alive” look without committing to visible peeling. It includes 5% lactic acid for instant glow support.
Best for: first-timers, dehydrated or dull skin, and anyone who wants glow fast with minimal downtime.
Peptide Perfection Peel ("Red Carpet Peel")
This is my go-to “no downtime, no peel peel” when you want luminous skin before an event. It uses medical grade micro silver, peptides, and an AHA blend to polish texture and keep pores clearer without making you flaky.
Best for: glow seekers, busy schedules, and anyone who wants a smoother look without visible peeling.
BioRePeel
This Italian TCA peel is famous for little to no downtime. I love it for texture, tone, and tightening when you want results but you still need to be out in the world. Your appointment includes double cleanse, prep, peel application, LED light therapy, and finishing products. It’s usually best as a series of four treatments spaced 7 to 10 days apart.
Best for: acne, acne scarring, hyperpigmentation, age spots, melasma, and year-round maintenance.
Lazer Peel
This is a superficial to medium-depth acid blend designed to mimic a laser-like brightening effect. It includes glycolic, lactic, citric, salicylic, and tranexamic acid, plus hexylresorcinol. The depth is controlled by time on the skin, which lets me stay smart and conservative while still targeting stubborn pigment like melasma. A series tends to perform best here.
Best for: persistent hyperpigmentation and melasma that hasn’t budged with basics.
NEW RDS Stem Cell Peel (Renew Dermal Peel)
Renew is built for exfoliation and brightening without excessive peeling. It combines TCA, hydrogen peroxide, kojic acid, peptides, and stem cells to target fine lines, sun damage, enlarged pores, and uneven tone while keeping downtime low. It’s also designed without photosensitivity, which matters when you live in a sunny place.
Best for: people who want visible smoothing and brightening with minimal peeling and a more comfortable experience.
MelaPro Peel (KRX Melapro Cold Peel)
If you want pigment correction without the classic “peel week, ” this is the one to know. It’s an oil-based cold peel that targets excess melanin production below the surface, using 10% 4-Butylresorcinol (Rucinol) plus glutathione and supportive ingredients. It’s designed to be comfortable, barrier-aware, and a strong option for sensitive skin and deeper skin tones.
Best for: melasma, stubborn sun damage, and clients who want brightening without visible shedding.
5-Berry Peel (Current Clients Only)
This potent peel combines 7% TCA with antioxidant-rich berry extracts like cranberry, raspberry, blueberry, blackberry, and bearberry. It’s one of my stronger options for photo-aging, wrinkles, hyperpigmentation, and acne. It’s also “colorblind, ” meaning it’s designed with Fitzpatrick safety in mind.
Best for: established clients already on a consistent routine who are ready for a stronger pigment and texture push.
Pigment Lift 15% TCA Peel (Current Clients Only)
This is the “gold standard” level peel in my lineup, with 15% TCA plus pigment inhibitors and antioxidants like vitamin E and retinyl palmitate. This one is absolutely something we work up to. Your skin needs to be prepped with the right skincare and you’ll need to follow aftercare closely.
Best for: established clients who want a stronger correction plan for pigmentation, wrinkles, and acne and are ready for more structure around aftercare.
Important note: the 5-Berry Peel is available for established clients only. If you’re new, I’ll start you in a safer place and build your plan step by step.
Results I hear about most: “glowing, ” “smoother, ” and “made a huge difference”
Pigment correction is a results game, and I care about what you see in the mirror. People regularly tell me their skin looks and feels more hydrated, “rejuvenated, ” and noticeably more comfortable after treatments. I also hear a lot about immediate glow and that “my skin feels so great today” effect after a facial plus targeted exfoliation.
When we’re working on discoloration, that glow matters because it’s a sign your barrier is calmer and your surface texture is smoothing out. That’s the foundation that lets brightening ingredients and peel series actually do their job. And I keep you out of the trap of over-buying products. A client summed it up perfectly after a peel: they appreciated that I didn’t load them down with a bunch of products, just what made sense.
“Got a much needed Peel with Chelsa. I love how my skin feels and looks, made a huge difference.”
one of my returning clients
If you’re in Fort Lauderdale and you want “real skincare results, ” we’ll keep it simple: pick the right peel depth, protect your skin from UV, and stay consistent long enough to see the pigment break up and fade.
What your visit looks like in Harbordale, step by step
When you come in, we start with a real conversation. I’ll ask what’s bothering you most, what you’ve tried, and what your skin does in the Fort Lauderdale sun and humidity. Then I look closely at your pigment pattern and your baseline sensitivity before anything touches your face.
Next is cleanse and prep. This part matters because it sets the peel up to work evenly. Then I apply the peel in controlled layers and I’m watching your skin the whole time. Some peels feel warm or tingly. Some feel like almost nothing. After I neutralize or remove (depending on the peel), we finish with calming support, and in some cases LED to help the skin settle.
Before you leave, you’ll know exactly what to do at home, what to avoid, and what “normal” looks like on day one, day three, and day seven.
Downtime planning for boating, travel, and work: a practical guide
Superficial peels (glycolic, salicylic blends, brightening cold peels)
Downtime is usually light. You might be a bit pink, a bit dry, and you may get minor flaking. This is the lane for busy schedules and frequent travel.
Medium-depth TCA-based peels
Plan for visible peeling and a stricter “no sun” window. If you’re boating or doing long outdoor days, we’ll time this carefully or choose a different option that month.
Aftercare that protects your results: strict daily SPF, no picking or scrubbing, skip heat (hot yoga, saunas) while you’re actively peeling, and keep your routine calm and consistent.
If you’re coming from Dania Beach, Hollywood, Oakland Park, Wilton Manors, or Davie, I’ll also help you map your timing. A peel right before a beach weekend is usually not the move.
Why my clients stay with me for years: calm energy, real plans, and no pressure
I’ve been doing this work in Fort Lauderdale for 3 years, and I run C.Skin.Care Aesthetics hands-on. People come back because they feel comfortable and taken care of, and because I explain what I’m doing as we go. If you’re nervous about peels, that matters.
I’m also picky about homecare recommendations. You won’t leave with a bag full of products you’ll never open. We’ll pick what supports your pigment plan and your barrier, especially if you’re dealing with sensitivity or flare-ups.
Good to know: I’ll make sure we protect your time.
If you’re near the 17th Street Causeway and Harbor Shops area, come in for an in-person consult and we’ll map a pigment plan you can actually stick to.
Consult checklist I’ll ask you before we choose a chemical peel
- What pigment type you’re seeing (sun spots, post-acne marks, melasma patterns)
- Your current skincare, including retinoids, acids, and brighteners
- Medications and recent procedures (especially anything that increases sensitivity)
- SPF habits and realistic sun exposure (beach, boating, outdoor work)
- Your timeline goals, like a trip, holiday, or event date
